The idea for this website has been in my head for a few years. Over that time the idea has changed and morphed from a trading focused website to a more all-encompassing personal finance / investing blog. (This is why the website is called The Stoic Trader, The Stoic Investor was taken!). The initial plan was to create a one-stop-shop for trading information. As work and family commitments built up, the time I could dedicate to trading dwindled. As such, my focus switched back to where my interest in the markets began, long-term investing.
This website will serve two purposes: Firstly, it will (hopefully) provide you with some useful information, and secondly, it will (hopefully, again) rekindle my love for investing and personal finance. As my life has become busier, the time I can dedicate to investing and financial research has lessened. I hope this website will give me the kick I need to re-start my personal finance journey. As you can tell from the website name, the principles of Stoicism may come up from time to time. Stoicism is an ancient philosophy that focuses on controlling what you can control and limiting the impact outside events have on you. In my eyes, it’s an ideal philosophy to take into the realm of finance. I hope to touch more on Stoicism in further posts, for anyone who is curious, I would suggest Meditations by Marcus Aurelius as a good starting point.
As this blog evolves, I hope to categorize and order it in a way that makes sense to the reader. For now, you will have to bear with me. I don’t have a set posting schedule yet, again you will have to bear with me. With any luck, I’ll be able to pass on some of my existing knowledge and learn something new along the way.
I look forward to sharing this journey with you all.
